Hai Phong Transport
Hai Phong is linked up with other provinces and cities by road, rail, water and air. Therefore, Hai Phong is called a transportation hub in Northern Vietnam, connecting northern provinces and cities with the world markets via a seaport and airport system.
Hai Phong has a road system that is very convenient for the movement of goods and people to Hanoi and northern provinces via the National Highways No. 5 and 10. The National Highway No. 5 (105 km long) includes 4 motor lanes and 2 lanes for non-motor vehicles. This is the most modern first-grade highway in Vietnam. Meanwhile, the National Highway No. 10 links Hai Phong City to provinces of Quang Ninh, Thai Binh and Thanh Hoa and connects Hai Phong Port and the coastal provinces in the North with the National Highway No. 1.
With the five rivers flowing along the city, Hai Phong becomes a focal waterway link, connecting provinces and river ports in the North. It is estimated that more than 40% of cargo from the northern provinces are carried via this route. |
