Bạc Liêu is a coastal province, and is situated in the south of the Vietnam. Bac Lieu is bordered on the north by Kien Giang and Can Tho; on the northeast by Soc Trang; on the southeast by the South China Sea coastline; on the southwest by Ca Mau. Because of a posibility of flooding during the rainy season, traveller might aim for December visit.

Bac Lieu Tourist Attraction

Bac Lieu Bird Sanctuary (Vuon Chim Bac Lieu), notable for its 50-old species of birds, including a large population of white herons. The sanctuary is one of the most attractive ecological tourist spots in the Cuu Long River Delta.On the ground are a massive number of eggs, and in the air, you can spot some species with 2 m wing-spans. Birds mostly gather here during the rainy season between May and October.

Bac Lieu History

Until 1996, the area that now makes up Bac Lieu province was part of a larger unit, Minh Hai province. In 1996, Minh Hai was split into two, with the northeast becoming Bac Lieu province and the southwest becoming Ca Mau province.

Two seasons: Rainy season from May to November and Dry season is from December to the end of April to the following year.
Temperature: 22o5C to 31o5C - Average temperature: 26o8C.

- Alum soil accounts for 59.9% of natural land.

- Sandy soil accounts for 0.18% of natural land.

- Alluvial soil and others account for 4.4% of natural land.

- Rivers and cannels account for 2.9% of natural land.
